What is the mould?

The mould is a continuous casting steel equipment which takes the molten steel injected from the tundish and solidifies it into a solid shell according to the specified section shape. It is the most critical part of continuous caster and the core of continuous caster.

Its structure, material and performance parameters play a decisive role in slab quality and caster production capacity. It has good thermal conductivity, can quickly form a green shell with enough thickness, good structural rigidity, and is easy to manufacture, install and adjust,

The main purpose of the mould is to provide uniform and rapid cooling for the molten steel, so as to promote the rapid solidification of the molten steel and the uniform growth of the shell.
